Martin Colony History: 85 pair in 2020. Seems fairly consistent the last few years.

Only because of Leap Year can I say two martins arrived in February. A little early for me here in southern Missouri. At least the weather looks pretty good for the next week. I barely had my housing ready,
They kinda slipped up on me. I’m getting excited.

That's cool! I'd bet you don't have arrivals on that same date next year, or the two years after that! :lol:
Martin landlord since 2003. Currently offering 162 plastic gourds with tunnels, all with Conley II entrances with the Lewis modification. I have 24 Supergourds and the rest are Troyer Horizontals.

As of 2018 - 84 cavities offered, max # of pairs hosted - 82.

Congratulations, Keith! Jeff and you are ahead of me this year!

I think my birds probably stopped over for a snack in Sikeston at Lambert's cafe (Home of the Throwed Roll). :lol: :lol:

Jeff, congratulations to you also. Kathy, if I was passing through Sikeston that would be my plan for sure. Your birds usually come about the same time as ours give or take a day. Mine and Jeff’s birds must have gotten on the same “Air bus”.
Also Kathy, I have had many friends, neighbors, and family contact me asking if I noticed the article on your colony in our rural publication. That is a very nice article.

Tried to attract PMs 2004; began more earnest attempt in 2014.

Current home site consisting of 2 modified Trio M12Ks, 4 ChirpyNests, and assorted artificial gourds, all enclosed in owl/hawk cages.

2018 — 3 pairs
2019 — 6 pairs
2020 — 12 pairs; barred owls late in season
2021 — 17 pairs; enclosed housing
2022 – 14 pairs
2023 – 18 pairs
2024 – 18 pairs
2025 – 24 pairs
2026 –

Manage FILs colony & public park colony. Attempting to start a colony at a wildlife refuge.

~20 years of providing housing for cavity nesting birds including Bluebirds, Carolina Wrens, House Wrens, Carolina Chickadees, Tufted Titmice, Great-Crested Flycatchers, Northern Flickers, & Prothonotary Warblers.

Thank you, Keith! Been a little busy the last few days, juggling work and emails & phone calls (can you believe SOME people still do not have internet or email??).
By the way, would it be okay to send a few people your way if they're over near Ava? Send me an email at purplemartin @ centurytel . net with your email information if you would be okay with that. You and Jeff are great resources for these people too and sometimes, they just need someone to go over and look at their site to help them identify where to put their house / gourds up!
