2016 - 1 pair, 4 young
2017 - 5 pair, 23 young
2018 - 8 pair, 40 young, two deaths most likely due to heat.
2019 - 18 pair, 74 eggs, 1 nest abandoned, all the rest successful.
2020 - 32 nests, unknown exact egg numbers, 1 death.
Needed a better way to store my gourds in the off-season, so built this in my shop. Nothing fancy, but it's definitely a space saver. Room for another row below if I decide to expend by one more gourd rack.

Thanks! I'm not here to push housing on people, but man my Bo11+ (gourd within a gourd with vent caps) worked like gangbusters this year. Had many days with babies in 105 degree temps with heat indices over 110 and I didn't lose a single baby to heat. I was just sure I would. Can't hang as many on a rack as they are slightly heavier. Maybe I got lucky with wind, etc.. Who knows. Think I may expand to one more Gemini rack. Have 16 gourds on each for a total of 32 and call it good. We shall see.

- Martin Colony History: 2017 Two (and a lone SY male) SY pairs, 5 & 4 eggs. Hatching began on 6/27
2016 Three SY Martins interested in gourds, but never nested.
I also manage 48 gourds in the town where I live through the Songbird Project. Was off to a very slow start this year, but many more came back last week in May, phew!
Nice! I store mine in mesh ball bags, the ones used for soccer balls. Then I can hang the whole bunch of them on a hook on the wall or from the ceiling.

You got it looking good.
I built a 3’ x 3’ x 8’ box that mounts on the front forks of my tractor. Then I simply transport them to my metal shop. Used to transport them in several trips in my UTV. This new way really saves time. Plus only have to handle them 1 time instead of 4.

Looks great. I hang all 60 of my THGs in the loft of my wood working building on suspended metal rods that thread through the gourd holes. the rods are themselves threaded on the ends and screw into a turnbuckle and then into a eye bolt on one end and a hook bolt on the other end. The eye bolt and hook bolt then connect to each end of my shed. I like to hear about everyone new ideas on storage of gourds.
