Well I did another nest check today and good news so far I have grown from 1 nesting pair last year. To 5 so far this year 4 with 5 eggs and 1 with 6 eggs and several more nest that are getting green leaves placed in them so maybe we will get a few more. It’s hard to count how many birds I have but maybe 12 to 15. Very pleased with the growth this year. Good luck to everyone especially the new landlords don’t get discouraged it will happen just takes a good site and time.

Thanks guys I hope it continues to grow a little this year. I have a few still building nest so maybe. Hopefully they will fledge all of them and theses pairs will return next year with a few more in tow. I have heard several people saying that your colony is confirmed if you get 10 or more nesting pairs. So half way there.

Martin Colony History: Colony established May 20, 2017 after three unsuccessful years. Persistent and aggressive Tree Swallows plagued the site, but beyond learning - and practicing - to control them, was the return in 2017 of a 2016-SY-M previously unable to find a mate. As a handsome ASY-M, he brought along two females and a swagger that soon put the Tree Swallow issue to rest. As the anchor pair, he and his mate hatched all six of their eggs into fat and healthy babies into what settled in to be a three-pair, flourishing new colony with up to 11 birds total, including 3 SY-M trouble makers.

Your colony looks perfectly on track! Congratulations!
