Martin Colony History: Landlord of colony started in 1940 by grandfather. Completely lost colony due to houses that did not provide protection from owls.
New T-14 houses installed. 100% full with no nest abandonment due to owl guards, predator lights and decoys.
Starting new colonies in Minneapolis with new T-14 houses. Planning on community martin houses in park system. Re-claimed wetlands next to city lakes would be excellent site. Currently their are No colonies in Minneapolis, MN. Hoping to have same success as I had in Western Wisconsin

I have a question about how instal a camera on the PM nest. My location is a community site and does not offer electric power supply. I have two T-14 houses and Troyer horizontal gourds. I was thinking I could use a solar power to power camera ?? We don't have many PM in Minneapolis and this is a new site that I have put much time and money into installing. We have an urban park group with about 3000 members, who most have never seen a PM or its nest. When I took a photo last year of the nest with the young, everyone the MPLS. Park Board asked "How did you get that picture?" They did not realize what we landlords do. I think if I could get the webcam
working, the PM will become important to schools and be a nice teaching aid. What type of house or gourd works best for this? Thanks for any ideas. I find that it is very important for urban city people to feel a connection with nature. Hopefully they will feel connected to the PM. Thank you, David

There are ways to do this, but internet is a bigger issue. Ring cameras work with solar, but constant motion will be too much for just the solar panel power.
