Looks like a small roost may be forming in Baton Rouge along College Drive just south of I-10. Saw around 300 birds gathering, circling and landing in the crepe myrtles around Taco Bell in front of Hobby Lobby. I've never seen a roost at this location before. Not sure if this was a one time deal or the beginning of a new roost. Pretty cool to see.

This micro roost is back to being active. Looks like it has grown. Maybe 1,000 - 1,500 martins.

Evan337, what time do you see the most activity, in the AM or PM? I go through there quite often, and will adjust my travel time to coincide with the activity.

Conrad,
We drove past the site around 7:45 last night. The sun hadn’t set but it was close. Still plenty of light out. I bet they start gathering an hour before. Sunset today is at 8:06pm.

Thanks, I will pass that way on my way to L'Auberge to make my weekly donation.
