- Martin Colony History: Several colonies with in 6 mile radius.
Have had visitor every year 2014-24.
Two large trees removed in fall 2024 and moved T-14 to a more open location.
2025- 1 SY pair. Fledged 2.
Being 'martinless', i do like watching the tree swallows and look forward to their return. I'm in central PA, so, probably a week or two behind you. I try to offer them housing within the parameters of the tree swallow protocol.
I remember the first spring when i put my T14 up. 2014. I had a pair of tree swallows that took and instant interest. Being so uneducated at the time, i thought i had martins. Oops. Ive learned alot since then. Mostly from this forum and its members. But I'm still martinless.

- Martin Colony History: Well established 90 cavity colony. Mostly plastic gourds with some custom cedar houses atop pilings out over the river. We live stream the activity on our website https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCXKqSW ... Ph2tywu4eg
We are on the Maurice River. The Maurice is brackish and tidal. It meets the Delaware bay about three miles down at East Point, NJ. The area is remote and consists of dense marshland and swamp. Dragonflies abound.
Swallows arrive in mid August and finish nesting mid July. There is a large annual roost in mid August upriver a few miles at Mauricetown.
Wow, you're further north than Terrapin Cove on the Maurice River in Southern NJ. I better keep my eyes peeled. Thanks for the sighting.
Good luck Purple Martin Landlords.
