I engage in something called House Sparrow Extermination. I leave my martin housing up 24/7/365. When a HOSP moves in the area, my martin housing is the first thing they are attracted to. They are then exterminated within 24 hours with a pellet gun or a gourd trap. I almost never see them anymore. This I believe, is the most effective way to eliminate these pests.
