Sadly i have to report that this is the worse martin season I've seen...just a quick back ground....Ive been a landlord off an on since 2010....2010 1 pair,, 2011 1 pair,,2012 1 pair....they all fledged their young, 5 each year...2013 none 2014 none,,,2015 none,,,,, 2016 1 pair and 5 young fledged.. just after the young hatched a hawk got the ASY male...i lowered the T 14 3 times each day supplying cricket's ...I did this until all 5 fledged...2 days after they fledged I had another hawk attack, but this time the hawk missed....So now for the 2017 season I've seen a Total of 1 martin....A lone female showed up on June 1st...she hung around for about 10 minutes,, rested on the T 14 perch rod and then took off to the NW... Ive been playing the songbird magnet every day starting around 5 am....Last year I had more visitors than any other year,,SY, ASY...Again this is the worst I've seen since 09.....Im thinking that last years hawk attack, losing the ASY male and then another attack when the young fledged did me in.....Hoping that i have a couple more weeks for SY s to show up....but it sure isn't looking good.... Any thoughts from other landlords greatly appreciated....Thk s Dave
