Thanks for the encouragement James and Yes - it sure is exciting, Kara! I am enjoying seeing them fly over - just waiting for them to actually stop by and check out the place. I am wondering if they are from a colony in the area that I am unaware of or if they are just passing thru on their way further north. I wish they could talk. lol!
I hadn't seen any more martins since last Tuesday about 9am and lo and behold, I looked out this morning (for the millionth time) and I saw one flying over again. It didn't stop but I saw it and again - it's a Tuesday. Is Tuesday my lucky day? lol! I was just thrilled to see it flying over - I was just going to start playing the Dawn song - It's been so rainy here lately (again) that I am having to play it between showers and storms. I was going to put it on a little earlier but it was still wet on the deck and I didn't feel it was safe to do it yet but it's going full blast now.
That's awesome. Hopefully they'll come back. Were they adults? It's a good feeling seeing them investigating. Make sure you have your I's dotted and T's crossed, so you have the best chance of them choosing your site.

Thanks, tor! I don't know whether the first pair I saw were adults or not - I was so excited I forgot to register that in my brain. The one I saw this week, alone, was not an adult, or if it was, it was a female. I saw one late yesterday when I was mowing, too, and it was not an adult male so either a female or a 2nd year......it just flew over and I happened to see it. It's hard to mow and look up at the same time. haha! I hope I have everything ready for them.....I guess we'll see what they think.
