I just got back from Alabama today. There were a few martins on the houses. Then I walked under them and they came out. I counted a total of 18 martins which is 9 pair. I have 2 pair in the new house I put up to replace the gourd rack. 2 pair in the house next to that one. 4 pair in the house next to it. 1 pair in one of the Bo9 gourds under the Mini Castle. It's a Subadult pair in the gourd I'm really excited about them. I have 2 more Subadult pairs that came in when I was gone. But for me there are a lot of martins!

Kyler,
It sounds like you are off to a good year. Now that spring/summer seems to finally be here our birds should have no shortage of insects. The late April blizzard had me nervous.
I counted about 30 birds last night and more seem to arrive each day. I have a used metal Trio house given to me that I hope to get up this week. Last year I had 33 nesting attempts/pairs. I also have wood, metal, and plastic gourd housing.
I started out in 2012 with a cheap plastic house. This is the first year that I've not played the DawnSong tape as it no longer needed.
If you are ever near Holcomb/Garden City please stop by.
Best regards, Arthur

Martin Colony History: 2016 Informed landlord now Have 2 pair returning from 2015 That is a miracle. Hoping for a very successful year, sparrow population on decline.
First house was plastic with crescent holes Had martins within a few days. Ignorant landlord gradually lost them
Then got Trio House and still lost most of them. Lots of sparrows

Kyler I agree maybe they followed you home.
Colony of happy birds with a happy landlord. :)
