88 houses that have housed 44 pair for 2 years and as of today we only have 6 pair that have returned. I am worried; what happened to my birds.

Martin Colony History: The 1972 St. Agnes flood wiped out all the Martins in my area. One day, in 1997-98, 5 or 6 Martins landed on the power wires crossing my back yard. I had no house for them. They kept coming back day after day. We got a martin house a few weeks later & they have been coming back every year since. I average 12-15 pair per year.

Many in the northern states are all asking the same question. We're hoping it's just late migration.

Same boat here in Western Pa. Java. I have 4 ASY males here as of now, they are returning one at a time, with lots of time in between. Something seems to be amiss, as you say hopefully it is just a late migration, but one has to wonder at this point.
