Houston area
I haven't been able to log in at all this season but the admin helped with that. Our birds usually come in on Feb 14th just like in past years. I did not see any until early this month and some say the birds are running late this year. I still don't have any even though I have seen 4 flying overhead. Curious what others in this area are seeing for numbers. Maybe others are low on luck too. Emil is the only one that I know to talk to so I am reaching out to others in this area. I am in west Houston and have heard reports from Sugarland posted before. How are the rest of you doing ? Thanks. *BW*

Things are looking fairly normal here. First scout showed up early Feb & first sleepover late Feb. I typically get 4 or 5 pairs here at my tiny site & I think that will be case again this year. There are 8 or 10 birds hanging around regularly. At just about any time of the day now I can walk outside and see or hear Martins foraging overhead even if there are none at the housing. I've also been out to nearby Eldridge Park a couple of times and observed Martins there foraging overhead & drinking at the pond, so activity overall seems normal for this time of year. Glad to see that you can log in, and hope that you still get some martins

Update: The bird I had stay a while back must have come back again, at least I think it is the same one since it went into the same hole as before but only spent one night. Tonight at dusk I saw 5 martins overhead and when I thought they might stop in they flew southward toward Sugar Land. Maybe tomorrow ! Does anyone know if the gourds are still up at the Cy Fair College in NW Houston where there was a couple of Houston meetings about martins there ? Thanks. *BW*

Normal to early year for me. My first pair showed up early February and numbers have been building slowly at my site. I have around a dozen birds now, last night 16 were circling but only a dozen came in that I could see. Much activity during the day as males try to attract females to my house. I am in southeast Houston near Hobby airport.

- Martin Colony History: I only have one 16 compartment house. I only have a small backyard so I have to be happy with what I got.
No problems having several pairs for the past 5 years. Never quite have a full house.
DOWN HERE JUST 2 MILES SOUTH OF HOBBY AIRPORT, I HAVE AT LEAST 5 PAIRS. WILL TRY TO DO ANOTHER BEAK COUNT TOMORROW. MY BIRDS WERE ABOUT A WEEK LATE THIS YEAR. HOPING FOR A FEW MORE TO ARRIVE.

I'm not too far from you and I'm seeing a good number of martins for my site. I have counted up to 12 flying around my house. I first saw a martin here on Feb 21.
