Hi all

I can't tell you how much I've missed being here and talking to you guy's and gals.
Been a tough time around here! I'm still trying to sell my other house with no luck at all. My lovely wife took a fall at work last June and broke her leg and her knee. She was allowed NO ground contact at all for 3 months. So I had to take off work for 2 1/2 months to take care of her 24/7. You can bet I've been fully domesticated!!! I did EVERYTHING, plus playing doctor. I can tell every man out there, I gained a GREAT appreciation for what gets done around here! She went from wheelchair to walker to cane 4 1/2 months of therapy and is finally on her feet. Took 6 1/2 months to get her back to work. So needless to say, I've had my hands full!
I've been looking in from time to time if I could squeeze a min. Can't wait for Martin season to start around here. Hoping everyone has a fantastic year. I'm gonna give it a go again this year to try and get started. I sure did miss my birds last year!
I'll check in when I can. Please don't take it personally if I don't respond to a post right away.
Just know I think the world of this group, and I'm rooting for you all!
Tony

Martin Colony History: The 1972 St. Agnes flood wiped out all the Martins in my area. One day, in 1997-98, 5 or 6 Martins landed on the power wires crossing my back yard. I had no house for them. They kept coming back day after day. We got a martin house a few weeks later & they have been coming back every year since. I average 12-15 pair per year.

Tony:
Kudos to you for stepping in & taking care of your wife & all the household duties. You're a "Keeper" :).

I've had 15 surgeries in the last 10 years, involving hands, neck, back. The last surgery on Jan.3rd was lumbar fusion & my husband also had to take over ALL household duties & play doctor like you. I've got at least 7 more weeks of no bending, lifting, twisting, ect. He's helped me with my Martin colony as well loading nesting trays, cleaning, doing nest checks, etc. He even flipped crickets when I was down with bronchitis last year.

I wish you the best on getting a colony started this year.

Martin Colony History: I moved to South Florida, from Delaware, in August of 2015.

I care for a 6 condo Sunset House as well as two Deluxe Gourd Racks, with 24 Chirpynest/Excluder gourds, along a canal in Pompano Beach, Florida.

At Quiet Waters Park, nearby in Deerfield Beach, I care for a Deluxe Gourd Rack with 12 TVG's. I also care for a Deluxe Gourd rack with 12 Excluder gourds with Modified Excluder entrances. I am substituting 6 Chirpynest boxes for 6 of the Conley II entranced gourds in 2026.

At another local park, Tradewinds Park in Coconut Creek, I care for a Trendsetter 12, 5 gourds rack with 60 Excluder gourds with Modified Excluder Entrances and 1 Deluxe Gourd Rack with 12 Troyer Vertical Gourds with Starling Stoppers over the Conley II's to keep out smaller starlings.

I am so glad to hear your wife is on the mend. What an ordeal for you both.

Wishing you a great 2017 Martin Year!

Tony, Tony, Tony. --- I have been thinking about you for quite some time.. You always was the model Landlord.. You never gave up on the Martins and you finally got your first pair (playing Country Music) instead of the Dawn Song.. Cracks me up.. You always was a Hero of mine, and now after all you and yours have been through, Your are my Super Hero, Bless you and your family..

Thanks to you all!
Toy, you tell your husband I feel his pain! With the cooking and the cleaning, grocery shopping, potty chairs, bathing, shots, bandages, doctor and therapy visits, plus all the regular yard stuff, I was almost glad to go back to work!
Sharon it looks like I'm back in the wannabe boat all over again
Carton & Anthony thank for the well wishes
And Dave your killing me! I was telling the wife just this morning it was time to hook the speaker back up. I cant remember what country song was on but I wish I had been paying attention. Just never dreamed I'd be moving and need that information!

Good luck to you all
Tony
