will be meeting at a golf course Wed to talk about getting a donated Trio Castle up. I have wanted one since...Lyndon Johnson was in office - ha. Should I try to reinforce the pole with a pole inside it? What's best to use?

Ray..that's my preference, but want to keep the cost down first year.
John, in 2013 I replaced the bottom pole of my castle with a new one and added a 1 1/2 inch gal. pipe inside the bottom pole. I may have added a pipe inside the middle part of the pole, like conduit but really don't remember. My problem has always been the bottom section of the castle pole. They kink bigtime right at or right above the ground. Since adding the gal. pipe, I've not had any problems with storms. But I will add that if I'm home I will drop all my houses 4-5 feet before a storm arises.
My minicastle pole has 1 1/4 inch gal. pipe inside bottom section and 3/4 inch gal. pipe inside bottom and middle section. Nothing in top section. Works well but heavy.

That sounds a bit too large....I thought galvanized that says "1 inch," which refers to inside diameter, but outside is about 1 1/4. I don't have the Trio mounting post with me...or I could take to Home Depot and test. I may buy two different pipes before my meeting , and take one back. Thanks Dave.

I found this old thread via a google search. I plan on reinforcing the trio castle post and understand the correct width but approximately how long should the post be? I would imagine it should be somewhat less than six feet but by how much? Thanks for your input.
