I posted a while ago about my off season plans and everything I wanted to do to my colony! At that time it was a pretty large list but over the winter I have got it down a little. Here it is and what I have done!
Done!
1. Insulated roofs and exterior walls of the trio M12Ks.
2. Installed PVC 90's to the trios and gourds as well for ventilation.
3. Installed Tunnels and Cooling caps to all the gourds.
4. Replaced all the bolts and screws with new ones. ( Old ones rusted )
5. Made owls guards for all the gourds.
These were never on the list before.
6. Made a GoPro mount for the martin houses. ( Goal to get awesome videos )
7. Education Poster Sign Board for the public site.
8. Purple Martin sign pole with feeder.
Need to do?
1. Replace all the poles.
3. Predator guards on the new poles.
Will post pictures of all the things done later thanks! Hope everyone has a great 2017 season!
Kyler,
The Off-season list is down! (With Pictures)

Kyler, Way to go.! You've got a lot done in this off season. I enjoy working on my Martin stuff too. I find it very therapeutic to be down in the Shop working on or creating something beneficial for my Bird's.!

Had a problem with the Owl Guards. Jose Rodriguez used 6 x 24 H Stands. I ordered 10 x 30 H Stands and I decided I would make them work instead of sending them back. So this is what I came up with. I will post pictures later of the step by step of how I did the Owl Guards!
Gourds with Tunnels and Cooling Caps and also H stand Owl Guards.

This is a picture of all the gourds in a line completely done!

This is of the gourds installed under the TMC12 (Sorry it's a little blurry)

These pictures were never on the list before but I eventually added them.
This first set up is going at my home colony. It has the SD1 sparrow trap, Purple Martin Sanctuary sign and two feeder trays on top.

This one is a Sign board I made for my Education Poster to be placed at my new public colony site. Hopefully to get more people to look.

Rodger,
Lol that means I will have to gain 17 pair! Oh my gosh you dont know how much I would love that to happen! I have a feeling it wont but you never know! But anyways thanks for the support.
Anthony,
As you can see in the pictures that I went ahead and just bought and installed Clinger tunnels on my gourds! I still have two more to do for the public colony. So I might do the troyer tunnels on them. Maybe? Your pictures of your mutipurpose pole you sent me gives me some ideas Also thanks for the support.
Michael,
Thanks for the support as well. It seems like you gained a lot of cavities for this year. I hope you colony goes crazy!!!! Goodluck in the 2017 season!

I thought of this about a month ago and now I want to share it with you guys! Thought someone might think it was interesting!
I got my GoPro for Christmas and it came with many different pieces that can be attached to anything with 3m tape. So I took the piece with the flat bottom and attached it to a small piece of aluminum and drilled a small hole into it so my small bolt could fit through!

This is the bolt and nut that I used. Anysize would work just fine.

Then I found this small metal clamp that will be used to wrap around the perch and hold the product on.

Sorry it's a black GoPro on a black surface lol. But anyways this is my GoPro with the bolt that holds it on to the attachment.

Then place the GoPro on the mount and screw the bolt into it.

Then side the small clamp under the GoPro mount and put the bolt though the hole and also the nut.

Then side the metal camp on to the porch perch or just any perch that martins sit on a lot so you can get a lot of videos.

So there you go. Should get some awesome videos. Hope everyone liked it and have a great 2017 season!

Jose,
I bought it at the PMCA shop and built the sign board in school in woods class. Then brought it home and painted it. I just used 3/4 plywood and it will be mounted on 4x4 post about 5 feet away from the multipurpose pole.
Also what do you think about my owl guards do you think they will work?

Kyler,
Thanks for the info on the poster. I like your owl guards, however I am a little concerned about the amount of space between the wires in front of the door openings. Just my observation. Maybe experts can recommend the amount of gap needed. I just went by pictures online and tried to line up a little with the tunnels. Best of luck to you. Looking good!
