AND I really really really need to check the sparrow traps in the house. But I am concerned about disturbing these babies and upsetting the parents by lowering the house.
What should I do?? If there are birds in the sparrow traps can you imagine in this heat????

First house was plastic with crescent holes Had martins within a few days. Ignorant landlord gradually lost them
Then got Trio House and still lost most of them. Lots of sparrows

Okie go to photo gallery and pick the photo you want to edit then a grid will show up. Take your fingers and draw the grid in close to the center of the page. It took me several times to get it small enough. But when I did t several times you know how small it needs to be! Hope this works. I am using an iPad!

Oh Happy Happy Happy Day
I was blessed to witness the last 2 fledge this AM, All with a sky full of martins encouraging them.
So what is left at the house..... Yeah..... 2 SY males!!! Yipeeeee There is hope for a true colony next year Whaooooooo
They are fighting with each other & checking out the compartments & just plain hanging around.
However I also witnessed what I had read about... One of them harassing a fledgling. They had landed on the roof of neighbors house along with one of the SY males & he "attacked" one of the fledglings.
All according to the book! I guess they have read "the book"
Got to get that gourd rack up PDQ
Should I pre nest the gourds now???? in hopes of attracting SY's next year?
Boo Hoo The house is so quite now.
Oh well can't have your cake & eat it too Right?

Well I had posted an update but I don't see it. Did not post anything illegal to my knowledge.
Anyway I got to witness the last 2 fledge this AM among a sky full of supporters. Awesome experience & kind of sad too as the house is rather quite now.
But... guess who came to my party??? 2 SY males are sticking to the house, fighting & checking out compartments & hanging out. Makes me excited for next year
There is hope for a real colony next year. Can't wait. Hurry up UPS & deliver my gourd rack
Should I pre nest the gourds???? for inspection this year????
These SY males are by the book. The fledglings landed on the neighbors roof along with a SY male & he attacked one of the fledglings.
But it really is far from quite by sound. I have lots of house finches & several babies are on the feeder begging to be fed. Wow are they loud sitting there fluttering their wings & chipping away.
Sharon I always think of you when I make these posts & feel a little hesitant to post. I wonder if all these "visitors" you have are from these other run down colonies looking for a place for next year. I sincerely hope so. Good luck next year. You deserve it.
Oh well I see my post now. It took awhile to show up. Sorry about double post. I think the 1st one is better

Okie,
I tried to send you a private message, but don't think it went through. I saw on another post that you would like to visit Stan's colony. You are welcome to visit our colony. My husband and I have an 80 plus pair colony about 3 miles south of Skiatook. We are retired and home most of the time. Our birds arrive a couple of weeks later than Stan's so we only have a few pair that have fledged.
Let me know I'd you would like to come by and I will send directions.

Actually it came through this AM just before this post & I answered.
From your bio your colony grew fast! You must have some colonies nearby to bring in some SYs.
That is what I am hoping for. My new gourd rack is on the road to my house. Will get it up PDQ for all those fledglings to inspect. I want them to make their plans for next year early.
Thanks for your response.
