Well I think the weather is looking up soon! more birds should be coming in. I am still clearing brush and trees. My site is wide open all 4 directions. They can dive, swoop, climb as high as needed. It looks good. This next month should tell us what will happen.
They start on my roof the first of May so the activity may help get them curious. Ok good luck to all!

Best of luck Sharon. The weather and the waiting is barely bearable! Still waiting here for hopeful return of 2 pair that nested at the quarry. Meanwhile had to close entrances at home housing due to pair of House Finches that started making nest in a gourd. Is your housing open? Are the hosp behaving? I know you keep firepower handy so prolly a stupid question :-) Take care.

Oh yours will be back Tim! Since they were SY's last year they will be a little later.
All of my cavities are open. I never have to close them up. I choo off BB's wrens, etc. But if a sparrow or starling lands on it they get hit or missed. Then they think twice before they come back. I am monitoring it 24-7. I have a large window in my shop I'm always looking out of. It will be nice to see nice weather. Good luck! It's just a waiting thing.

Wish I could retire from work and be a 24/7 landlord or work from home. I know be careful what you wish for!
Darn House Finches are persistent so I shut things off. Still haven't seen or heard a house sparrow on my property this spring. I was hard on them last year and it has paid off. 20 Guage was my best tool. Hope Fred and friends show up soon for you.

Well it makes it hard to get my work done when I'm always looking. But I wouldn't have it any other way. I created this when my kids were in diapers. Be at home mom and make a little money to. Now I want to take care of martins while I make a little money.
RR it sure looks good to me but I'm not flying in the air. Birds eye view is a lot different. All I know is I have helped out their flys ways big time. Thanks and good luck

Hi Adam, it was may 6. So if they come back should be around then. Hopefully sooner. This nicer weather coming should bring more through our area. Your numbers should go up this year. This wannabe club is getting old!!! goodluck

I wouldn't be surprised if you saw them earlier. If that SY bird does try to make another attempt at your site, he will be on an earlier migration path. Either way.. you have made so many improvements to your site, it is only a matter of time before that switch gets flicked and they start up your colony.

I sure hope that this year I can add to my place. When I only have that single pair.. it is way to stressful at this time of year.

I just have in the back of my mind about what reason did they leave???? Was it a hawk? I had a predator guard on that was a thin wall 4' x8" sewer pipe. So doubt if it was anything from the ground. If they just thought they were finished maybe they will be back. Not sure if they do that. But I would have bet anyone there was an egg in that gourd when she sat in there for almost an hour. He sang his heart out on the perch outside the gourd. But nope. They just went through the motions. It will be exciting to see what happens. But you know what, I'll take any Martin. Good luck!!!

Yes Sharon this will be your year there a lot of Asy around here at the moment and sy are in Illinois now to,a female at my site has moved on so be on the lookout this warm weather will bring them this way in a big wave I am sure ,keep your eyes to the sky this weekend Sharon this could be your weekend ,the best of luck to you and all the people hoping to get birds this year I am pulling for all of you have a great week

Sharon --- I kind of had the same thing happen at my Satellite Site last year... The SY's built a nest, and laid 4 eggs.. then they just sit there waiting on them to hatch.. I don't think she new what to do after she laid the eggs. So she just left after about two week.. Hopefully she will be back again this year... I wishing you the best of luck...
