Holy sh*t that is amazing!!! I love your site and all the sights and sounds of martins that go along with it.

That is amazing. Nest checks must take hours with that many compartments. I can't even fathom keeping account of the goings on, or troublesome sy birds. Kudos to you!

2013 - 1 SY Male Looker. Couple of Fly-bys.
2014 - Observed no Lookers :(
2015 - Bird-X Songbird Magnet, Sym and 2 others with him visited 4 days in a row.
2016 - Few Fly-bys at home. Started Public Site, a few vistors
2017 - Home, Visitors, Satellite Site, 3 Pairs, 14 eggs, 10 Fledged!

The season is peaking now. I hate to see it when the time comes for their departure. This has been a really good year for the martins.

Martin Colony History: 22 year landlord, 14 at current residence..offering 9 racks and a homemade T-8 for 166 total cavities. 160 Pair in 2018 Racks consist of a Deluxe 12, AAA 16, Starburst 16, 2 K-18 Series, Super 24, 2 Gemini, Multi-purpose/two trio’s/4gourds and a T-8..Great hobby to be involved in..

Malcolm I see where you have 110 nesting pair...wondering how many cavities you are offering? Nice video!!

This has been an up and down season for sure but after it is all said and done, my numbers are up also.
Should be a good "recovery year" for Martins everywhere.

Martin Colony History: Trendsetter-8. Set up in 2014 at my summer cottage, a beautiful natural inland lake in N.E. Indiana's Amish Country. T-8 is on cleared land behind my pole barn and adjacent to a farmer's field

2015: Had several flyovers in early June with 1 dedicated SYM visitor who visited each day for well over a month. He brought by a few PM "parades", with 8-12 PM's who would visit all at once, but soon leave. (Added 2 gourds to bottom of the T-8). We discovered a large (Amish) colony apx. 3/4 mile South of our T-8. We think this will eventually be our "feeder" colony.

2016: Put up a Trio G'Pa lakeside. Overall, not as much interest as 2015, likely because of our vacation to Gulf Shores, AL. in early June.

2017: Finally switched over to wheat straw. Success!! One nesting pair. Fledged 4!
2018: Zilch.
2019: Slow start, nothing observed by mid June. Wet, cold Spring a factor??
2020: Barely any sightings.
2021: Several observed high in the sky, eating. No interest so far!

Henry glad your 10 year old son is interested in martineering. Tell him I started out with a 20 room S&K house on a quad-tel pole at my site here. Years ago when I was about his age in cub scouts my Dad helped me build a wooden 12 room house that actually started my interest in martins. I bet he enjoys helping you with your colony.
