This one has me scratching my head. The few times I have had starlings at my gourd rack they go right to the Troyer gourds. I have tunnel traps which I set as soon as I observe them entering these gourds. As soon as I see that the trap has been tripped I lower the rack and not only is there no bird in the gourd but the trip wire has been removed from the gourd. This has happened 3 times this year including this morning. Anyone else have this happen to them?

I know a couple folks who have had the same experience - starling gone and trap wire with it. One friend found the wire on ground several feet away, so somehow the starlings are getting out and the shutter drops after they leave?
Hopefully someone has tips for preventing this.

Louise, the first time this happened I found the wire beneath the rack. The last two times no wire to be found. Its kinda weird that its happened three consecutive times. Looks like the .22 will have to take out this Houdini bird!
