Ryan….I didn't read every detail, of every post, but did notice your efforts to establish a colony. Love your "glass half full" attitude (rather than half empty), and wish you the best in attracting a whole pile of martins.
Been plugging away in far western WI for a few years, without much tangible success. Tonight, we had two pair entering one our gourd racks. Keeping our fingers tightly crossed.
Good luck in this (and the coming) seasons.

Hi Ryan, I think there may be one bullet left in your Gun. Ed touched on it when he said, "My suggestion is to play Dawn Song and the Daytime Chatter until it becomes natural background noise." The Daytime chatter is what I am referring to as you are already playing the Dawnsong. If you are not playing the Daytime Chatter, that is a whole lot of time within a day that you might be missing opportunities to attract them. Martens love to socialize in the mornings before it warms up enough for good feeding. It worked for me last year and am hopeful it can work for you.

Alright, you talked me into it. I ordered the daytime chatter. I'll play it most of the day at a more reasonable level than my very loud early morning dawn song. Hope it brings something in.
That's great. You deserve it. I can't imagine what the feeling would be. I've never seen a female, or even two Martins at once. Last summer when I saw a SY male after seeing nothing for three years I said to myself, Jeez that's a large tree swallow. 14- 1 SY male stopped by over 2 weeks.
15- 0 visits
