Hello! I do not own a dawn song CD, so I have no clue what it sounds like. Does it sound like any of the calls found on this database? There are 4 options. I'm assuming the first one is like "Daytime Chatter" but I'm not sure which, if any, are a dawnsong.

I shortened the link since it was so long:

Thanks!

(I hope it is alright to post this link; I think they sell these sounds but I don't think this would pose a problem to PMCA. If it does, feel free to remove the thread :) )

No, those are not dawnsong (only listened to first four) - some are labeled as to type of call, time of year, etc, and those rule out dawnsong. there's a statement on the page that 9 recordings are restricted, those may be the dawnsong recordings as sold by PMCA; Cornell Lab produces them for the PMCA, from a donated recording.

Here's a clip of dawnsong: http://www.purplemartin.org/main/Vocalization.html

Ah, okay, thank you!

I was trying to avoid having to download Quicktime just to play that file on the PMCA site just one time, but I will go ahead and do that :D

Well, I got Quicktime, and now I can play the files but when I do, no sound comes out, just a soft static from my speakers. Music on like youtube plays fine, so I do not know why these files do not play sound even though I can get them to play.

Going back to the big list of sounds:

I believe number 12 and number 21 are dawnsong? Maybe?

12 and 21 are not dawnsong either.

Martin Colony History: 24 Super and Excluder Gourds on two gourd racks, all SREH. Full occupancy. My philosophy is to maximize fledge % with existing cavities rather than adding gourds to grow colony, thus providing opportunities for new colony expansion. Fledge over 100 nestlings yearly from 24 gourds. Band nestlings in cooperation with state university. 2019 Adendum: Reduced colony size to 12 gourds to focus on more intensive management regimen.

Why not just purchase authentic Dawnsong and be done with it? You are wasting time as you attempt to find a bootlegged version of Dawnsong and any martins pass you by.

Mikey is very young man, who is trying to get a colony started at his home, which is also his parents' house.
He goes to school everyday, and is probably too young to drive, which makes being able to finance his Purple Martin endeavors, quite challenging.

Well then, the story is clearer. We've all been there when we were kids. With all these Fundme, programs out there you think something could be started for this young wannabe? Maybe, PMCA/Us could help out in some way as in "essays, contest, etc." Just thinking out load. I'm in education and there are are dozens of programs out there that help out kids. Good luck kiddo! 😊

I'll arrange for him to get a dawnsong tape. He can just contact Louise, she can call or message me and we can go from there...
