I had a good day at my house today. I had four PMs checking out my barn and gourds. One ASY male decided to stay and hang out for a while. While visiting, he went in and out of one of the gourds. My blue birds were also hanging out on the gourd rack perch and watched the PMs. I was so excited to see the PMs finally land on my site. I had the "Purple Martin Vocalization" playing full volume on an old cell phone I placed on the barn porch at the time. I hope to see these guys some more and they will decide to stay longer.
On top of the PM visit, I found another BB egg in the BB box. This is the first since the HOSP stole their eggs last week. The sparrow spooker is now up and so far the HOSP haven't been near the BB box. The HOSP are getting more curious about the repeating trap. Hopefully they will finally decide to step onto the elevator and wala; they are trapped! If I could only push them into the trap.
My Deluxe Universal Sparrow Trap should be here this week, I ordered from the PMCA Shop. Hopefully this will do the trick and the end will come to these destructive pests.
Good Day in My World of Birds

Mr. Martin came back! I was out this morning lowering my barn and gourds to put the old cell phone on the barn porch with PM Vocalization playing and to check for more HOSP nests. Before I could get the barn and gourds cranked back up there he was landing on the barn perch. He hang out there singing his song. It was such a beautiful sound. I talked back to him and he just hung out.
Hopefully he will decide to stay and bring some friends with him.
I just have to shout out my joys of seeing a PM in my yard in my first year of trying.
Thanks for listening!

The Purple Martins lift my spirits and remind me how life continues forward by flying their little selves from Brazil back to my yard. As one forum person once told me, chin up DebA, look at the martins. Danger all around but yet they soar in the sky without a care in the world.
MS - good stuff! I think you have a keeper. These birds do like interaction. But he seems extra comfortable. Fantastic.
