question about Trio Dri-Nest subfloors
Hi, I have a Trio Musselman that I have converted to 6 double compartments with excluder doors. I would like to add Dri-Nest subfloors for a couple of reasons: of course to raise the nest for better drainage, but also to give the martins better traction getting out of the compartment. My question is whether the raised floor would make it harder for the martins to get out through the excluder opening. I seem to remember reading somewhere that the door opening height needs to be within a certain range. Thanks for any insights.
I place the trio subfloor in the back room with a roof shingle cut to fit on top of the subfloor. I add pine needles to the shingle. Seems to work well. I also use a subfloor in the front room for traction and I think it keeps the birds drier.
