I'm so sorry to hear this. You worked so hard and many landlords won't put forth the effort that you did. Thanks for caring - hoping more come your way...after this bad weather is over.
With this unpredictable weather, it might be a good idea to go ahead and get a 1000 or so crickets into your freezer. Even if you don't need them this year, I think they will last a year or two in the freezer.
"Sometimes", said Pooh, "the smallest things take up the most room in your heart."

2022 - 80 pair

I am following this thread and have input. Mid week last week, the 25 Martins at this locale were fed crickets after a 2 day no feed. Martins caught on fast and lived . Then the most recent 4 & 1/2 days no feed, ended yesterday. :-( 4 dead martins. The rest left to feed in the wild at noon Tuesday.

Last night, I watched closely at returning Martins, and saw about 5 newbies
trying to stay. This after counting 23 martins comfortable with the STRE here. On 1&2 March I flipped 400 crickets which the Martins devoured. Have reordered 1000 crickets..

These are sad times that we all have sweating out the weather and Martins. Believe me, I feel your pain. Hang in there, is the best advice. You are very important to the Martins..

Best and Good luck,

Tony

Stephen- Thanks for your sympathy, that's very thoughtful. The Martins have bounced back in the last 2 days, and, 1000 crickets arrived, put in the freezer immediately and will baggie tomorrow. This new cold front is blowing through now

Our Best,

T&S

Many new birds came in Wednesday night. Mostly settling in when they found an unguarded Troyer. 1000 crickets were delivered by UPS, frozen in the box, and today I will put them in four zip lock baggies. Returned to the freezer, then, will wait for the next time the birds look hungry and are willing to feed. Best, Tony
