Thanks Louise. I just pray that they stay south longer with the cold temps. A reminder for everyone that insect don't fly at 48 degrees so get your scrambled eggs (no oil) and crickets ready for supplemental feeding.

Louise --- It seems like the Martins come north regardless of the weather. There time schedule is a little different then ours. I guess that is why we have the weather channel and they don't. 
We can see the danger for them, but they can not for themselves. The people that feed them are a blessing...

2014 8 gourds, 3 pairs nested. Ended w/ 24 total
2015 24 gourds, 22 nests. Lotsa birds!
2016 24 gourds and good activity.
2017 32 SREH gourds. Great activity.
2018 40 SREH gourds. Good finish despite big storm damage. No more dangling gourds.
2019 56+ SREH gourds, all on 3/8 rods. Birds did very well.
2020 56 SREH gourds.

- Martin Colony History: The 1972 St. Agnes flood wiped out all the Martins in my area. One day, in 1997-98, 5 or 6 Martins landed on the power wires crossing my back yard. I had no house for them. They kept coming back day after day. We got a martin house a few weeks later & they have been coming back every year since. I average 12-15 pair per year.

Do you know where they are located? There is no info on their site as to their location.
I did see the cricket prices are cheaper than Fluker Farms.

Toy, I cannot remember - maybe Ohio? But does not matter much, they only do business online & have different shipping options to choose. To lessen cost of overnight shipping, we order several boxes at once.
It has been rough even down here . North wind gusting to 15 to 20 makes flipping crickets impossible and the poor crickets died immediately. Has been a struggle to get Handwarmers in guords. They are sleeping together thank goodness . They do have a bayou that is protected to try to feed . Today should reach 49 to 50 . One more night! This am I was out feeding ducks and an eagle carried off one of our osprey that nests nearby with the mate trying to attach it the whole way . Ready for some good martin times.
