Old age is creeping up on me and I hope that 2015 will be my last year. I'd like to find some one in the Tulsa area who would be interested in taking over my MPP with lots of natural gourds for 2016. Has 6 vertical arms and 6 horizontal, rope and pulley.
Getting old is not for the faint-of-heart.

That is a very gracious offer Robert!
Hopefully someone in the Tulsa area will put them to good use.
If you're able, hopefully after this season you could scale back, and perhaps keep a few cavities for yourself.

Someone will find/see your gracious offer!! Hopefully it will be a person whose nearby where you could go have lunch or something and visit the new colony.

Or maybe scale back as Matt suggested. Hate to see any PM'er let their birds go.

The Martin's and I appreciate your dedication across the years.

At 89 years old I can still put up the gourds in the spring and take them down in the fall but nest checks are impossible, etc.
I shall only donate the equipment to someone who I have reason to believe is ready to do the work for the enjoyment. The natural gourds take a little care in the off season.

Martin Colony History: I have been exposed to purple martin sounds in utero when my mother went out to get my father away from his martin colony.
I played around the martin colony every summer and watched as my father maintained his colony. In the late 50's until the 70's he did not notice European Starlings in south Texas.
When old enough, I helped maintain his colony. My primary task was eliminating English House Sparrows with a 1956 Benjamin 317 .177 air rifle.
When I settled into my own home, I started my first colony with an original Trio Castle and Trio Grandpa. When I moved again, I did not put up any martin houses. Frustration with European Starlings in the Southeast US was overwhelming.
Found PMCA Forum and learned about modern enlarged compartments and SREHs.
Inherited my father's last martin house, a Trio Grandma, modified it to modern specifications and have had good results since then.

Mr. McCallum,
My 85 year old father would appreciate your great intentions.
In his situation, I inherited, restored and updated his 2 Trio purple martin houses.
Since you are 4 years older than him, he will call you, Sir.
I am 58 years old, so he fondly calls me, Boy.

Have you found a home for 2016 for your MPP and gourds? My husband and I live west of Sperry and south of Skiatook on 10 acres. We would have a spot for them. Will be happy to give you more information about our colony if you still need to find a new home for them.

We would love to see your set up and visit with you about ours. We are in Tulsa often, as our daughter lives there. We had 18 pair last year and fledged 59. My cell phone no. is the 918 845 1253 and I often (not always ) have it turned on and listening. Anxious to hear from you. You must be living somewhere near the fire department up there. I have done some bicycling that way a few years ago.
