I have been trying to get Martins at my house now for 6 years with no luck. I back onto the river with lots of room. I have 48 units in two houses and 4 gourds (put those up this year)
I would like to know from fellow Londoners if they have established sites or are there any Martin colonies in London? I know East Park Golf has an established site but can't think of any others. Anyone else from the London are know of any others?
I have had the occasional looker (1 or 2 per year) but no takers. Just wondering if it's worth my while to continue or remove it next year.

Hi SteveJ, can't help you with your question about martin colonies in London, but I looked up www.ebird.com for purple martin sightings in your area this year. Quite a few listings, here's a link to the map. http://ebird.org/ebird/map/purmar?neg=t ... =12&yr=cur
I would encourage you to continue trying, some people have waited longer and have been rewarded for their patience, I know its tough, but what do you have to lose. You never know when it could be your year.
Hope this helps,
Allan

Thanks Alan,
Thanks for sending me the link! It was appreciated. I didn't know about the sitings site you gave me. It gives me an idea where the Martins are. I'm still trying and will continue to do so being I have another month still for the Subbies to come. I play the dawn song but can't do it too loud because of my neighbours.
I have another site in Ipperwash (south end of Lake Huron) which I believe the map you have provided shows my house as a siting. It's nice to have them there but I don't get to appreciate them on a dally basis because I have to work during the week days and miss the occasional weekend.
