2 Subbies are playing havoc with about all Martin nest's. Pushed out 6 eggs and tore a mud dam half way out the entrance so mom and dad couldn't get in. No I won't shoot them  but I think the rest of the Martins sure would like it. But this is the way it is, Only the fittest will win.

We have been suffering from SY raids here, several nests cleaned out of eggs and young - it's rough, alright.

We have all SREHs, don't think that makes a difference. We have 3 racks holding 16 gourds each, and very few vacancies but there are some. Could be shortage of females is as much a cause of SY raids as shortage of cavities.

Good ASY parents should be guarding their nests - either incubating eggs or brooding small young. So maybe the nests that are intact have parents who are better at protecting their nests.
