Southeast Texas New Landlord
Hi folks, I have been reading y'alls forum for a while and decided to post. I put my new house up in February. My neighbor about 800 feet from me has had Martins for years and I was hoping to draw from his. No site of any Martins as of yet
I 've been pulling my house down every 3-4 days and cleaning out the beginings of sparrow's nest. Trapped some and have shot numerous starlings. I've seemed to have curbed the number of scrub birds down in my yard. But I have two mockingbirds in my backyard all the time. And one perches up on the house most of the morning and again in the evening. So can I conclude that as long as the mockingbird's hang around I can forget about having any Martins?

Howdy John & welcome! Sounds like you're also on the right track. Yup, I have Mocking birds, and Blue Jays, all around my Martins, NO PROBLEMS
I call them my "Hawk Patrol", when ever a Red Tail screams , everyone launches, even the Male Grackles! Good luck, and that's great that Sherrie can help!
