We have some eggs..noticed one is smaller than the rest, any thoughts on the small egg??

- My dad and I recently did a nest check and was surprised to see that the martins had laid eggs yet. What we did notice that one of the eggs are smaller than the rest. Any thoughts on that?

OK I'm not an expert so I will go first. Probably the little egg is infertile. Same color as a purple martin egg... Could it be a tree swallow egg? But that doesn't make sense, does it? Crap, I'm no help at all!

Okay thank you all for responding.. its a martin egg for sure.. I saw the martin go in right after we put the pole back up in the air.. im just hoping the bird develops okay..
