I bought this electronic bird call and used it one season in an attempt to get my gourds occupied. Turns out my yard was just a bit too small and the surrounding trees were too high for Martins to move in.
It has three different switches on the back. One is a volume. Another controls the recorded calls to be played.....either Purple Martins or song birds. Supposedly it used actual bird recordings digitally. Sounds like the real thing to me.
The third is the three position power switch...either off, constant on, or photocell.
With the photo cell setting it will play for two hours after dawn, or you can move the switch to "constant" and it will play at natural intervals continuously. It has a "weatherproof" housing with a pretty long power cord...about 35 or 40 feet long.
Asking $35. Prefer a local sale in the Richmond, VA / Williamsburg area, but I guess I could consider adding cost of shipping. (The manufacturer website lists them at $88.95)

I am interested in the player. Is it a cd player. I bought a cd from PMCA shop but did not get a player.

- Martin Colony History: I have been exposed to purple martin sounds in utero when my mother went out to get my father away from his martin colony.
I played around the martin colony every summer and watched as my father maintained his colony. In the late 50's until the 70's he did not notice European Starlings in south Texas.
When old enough, I helped maintain his colony. My primary task was eliminating English House Sparrows with a 1956 Benjamin 317 .177 air rifle.
When I settled into my own home, I started my first colony with an original Trio Castle and Trio Grandpa. When I moved again, I did not put up any martin houses. Frustration with European Starlings in the Southeast US was overwhelming.
Found PMCA Forum and learned about modern enlarged compartments and SREHs.
Inherited my father's last martin house, a Trio Grandma, modified it to modern specifications and have had good results since then.

I didn't put a link up because of the board rules, but you can search the web for "Bird X" and you will find the company page (they seem to make mostly repellant devices! But if you click bird products/all bird products and go a couple pages deep into it you will see a green box songbird magnet.
It is supposedly digitally recorded calls with natural intervals.
