I spotted what I thought was a Purple Martin on the fence beside the tree swallow house I put up. It flew away and never came back. I thought I would look up the Scout report and see if there were anymore in my area.
Surprise!!! If you look at the State of West Virginia on the map, there are very few sightings. Almost the whole state in vacant. Must be the poor economy, Ha! I'll keep watching, but I am liking the tree swallows also.

hi and welcome too the forum;;;;I think west Virginia has too many trees and mountains and not a lot of open space too accommate purple martin although along the ohio river here is a good area for them as like too be near water;;;;jr2
