that must be a new post. I did not see it this morning. I wonder if they know what they are looking at? they better hurry. I am almost full and I like having some SY birds.

We go through reports and do corrections a couple of times a week - some reporters will get an email asking for more info. Others, who post their adult and subadults as arriving on same day, will just be corrected to show ASY arrival only, or sub arrival only, whichever fits. We don't have the time to do daily corrections just now - spring is busy!

Martin Colony History: I started trying to attract Purple Martins in 2011. I got my first breeding pair in 2013.

2013-1 pair, 2014-4 pair, 2015-8 pair, 2016-12 pair 60 babies :-).

It's interesting that so many subbies seem to be showing up so far north. I haven't seen any SY males at yet. I do have an SY female in residence though.

Martin Colony History: I have been exposed to purple martin sounds in utero when my mother went out to get my father away from his martin colony.
I played around the martin colony every summer and watched as my father maintained his colony. In the late 50's until the 70's he did not notice European Starlings in south Texas.
When old enough, I helped maintain his colony. My primary task was eliminating English House Sparrows with a 1956 Benjamin 317 .177 air rifle.
When I settled into my own home, I started my first colony with an original Trio Castle and Trio Grandpa. When I moved again, I did not put up any martin houses. Frustration with European Starlings in the Southeast US was overwhelming.
Found PMCA Forum and learned about modern enlarged compartments and SREHs.
Inherited my father's last martin house, a Trio Grandma, modified it to modern specifications and have had good results since then.

Just like Chuck, that report is amazing to me also.
I have not seen SY males or SY females here in Collierville, TN (suburb of Memphis, TN)

Hello all,

I reported the sy male,He had a purplish head w/purple blotches on his chest.It looked like someone took a paint brush diped in purple paint & just flicked it @ his chest.Plus,there was a asy female preening right next to him to make the comparison-My apologies to everyone for causing such a rutkus,just trying to do my part.I to thought he was early

I always heard they can start to come for weeks after your first adult Martin? But who knows? That would mean I could be seeing one any day now?.

I figure about aprill 28 the subbies will be going crazy at my house

2019 I have 148 openings now
2016 100 pairs 600 babies fledged added another t-14 and have 126 openings now
2015 Jun 24 360 babies and 58 eggs also found one that had died
2017 632 babies 11died and 20 were killed by hawks
2015 74 pairs and 9 eggs 5/14

No subbies here yet in mid Arkansas, but any day now. Not sure I have much room left for them though. I am pretty full already
