It's that time of year when martins and bees are here. I've had martins for 4 years now, and will be getting my first hive in 3 weeks. The location I'd like to put my hive is within 25-30 feet away from my martin poles. Does anyone else have theirs that close together? Any problems? Thanks!

Mine are about 30 feet away maybe & no problems so far. I actually do not see martins catch any bugs in my yard. They always go off and feed somewhere else. I watch butterflies, dragonflies, bees, wasp, and a whole host of other insects come right by them and they pay no attention. So no I don't think they have bothered my bees at all.

Have no clue about martins and bees. Hope you don't mind me posting that I trapped my first Honeybee swarm eight days ago. I've ordered a complete Hive to put them in.
Helped my Brother about three weeks ago transfer bees from a squirrel box into a hive. That was fun!

I don’t have the perfect site. One open flyway with trees within 80 ft. I do have a small pond they utilize during the heat of Summer. (2017) HEAVY HAWK PREDATION

I came home from work Thursday & there was a swarm hanging on a limb above my bee box about 13 feet up. I have a young hive so I was puzzled. All I had was 1 super so I captured them (a first for me) and put them in that until I could give them to a lady that lost hers last year. Pleased with myself, I was telling the guy's at work about it. The next day at lunch my wife calls and says you need to come home and check on your bee's, I think their fighting. I came home and there was another swarm on the limb directly above the one I cut off the afternoon before! Two swarm's, two day's! I caught those and gave them to a bee keeper that also lost bee's last fall.
Here's the kicker, I'm allergic to these things!
What a rush!
