I know how you feel. I hate the cold. and now that it is warming up this week we are going to get outside and do are finishing touches to the racks so we are ready. with martins 3 weeks sooner in Indiana it has me worried mine will show up early. my return date last year was march 31. and that was 2 weeks sooner then the previous year. so I thought they will never come back sooner then that. this year it has me wondering if one might show up next week. and I also look forward to seeing them but want them to come when its warmer. because last year end of march their was plenty of cold days and nights. I just wonder if the ones in Indiana survived.

Martin Colony History: Had a colony many years ago which dwindled over a couple of years and then did not return. Kept trying each year for almost 20 years and finally had a small success in 2011 with two pairs nesting. Colony has grown slowly each year with 22 pairs in 2015. In 2016 my gourd rack of 18 gourds filled up so I added 4 more gourds and then put up a small rack of 6 gourds. All of those were claimed within a few days so I believe I have at least 25 pairs this year.

It sounds like the weather in your area is improving and warming up nicely so you could see your PMs return any time now. I hope to get my gourds up this coming week just in case :)

Have a great martin year!

I too have been monitoring the weather and migration closely this year and I got everything up and ready for business yesterday. I got excited when a scout was reported just south of Kansas City.

Got my T-14 re-painted and up. 30 natural gourds re-painted and ready. 7 new naturals prepped and ready to paint. Hoping to hit my goal of 50 pair this year! Close to the end of recuperation from rotator cuff surgery in Oct. Glad to be able to get outside and work on some martin "stuff". Good luck to all.
