Any suggestions on the equipment to use to play the DAWN SONG, I have been looking for a CD player with the manual comtrols amd repeat button so that I can use a timer to start and stop it. Also I purchased a Radio Shack water proof speaker, I conected to a 150 watt Sony amp amd needless to say it broke the speaker, Any suggestioms will be very appreciated.

Wish I could help….I'm in the same boat. I'll watch with interest replies to your posting. I have the CD, and think just recording onto an endless-loop tape might be a good bet.

Good luck this martin season.

I found a cd player on ebay that had repeat and let you attach the loud speaker wires.
I also have an automatic timer, purchased at Radio Shack, that can be set for how long you want the dawn song played.
It worked great...I got martins my first year!

I think the dawn song helped attract the martins, and then I have a good location and nice set up so they stayed.
I didn't mention that I am not playing the dawn song this year...
it's my third year and I was nearly full with 17 pair last year so I'm sure
they'll be back!!! And I'm waiting with 16 more apartments for them and maybe their offspring!

I burned my dawnsong CD to ITunes - and then plug my Ipod or Ipad into older computer speakers and play it that way. I generally keep the Ipod/Ipad in the garage where it can't be stolen while I'm away but keep a couple speakers outside the garage where it can be heard. You can put it on repeat an everything and play it for as long as you want.

Hi Everyone,
When I Divorced the wife left with everything including my Stereo & Speakers so I learned how to Play both The Dawn Song/Day time Chatter using My Computer, anyone wishing for simple instructions please email me, My Email address is at the bottom of this & every Message, I used the Power Horn Outdoor Speaker from Radio shack and I had been using a Stereo w/ 1000 watt's and never hurt the power horn speaker.

I purchased a pyle pha15 amp to place between the pc and the speaker.

I also purchased a 12v adapter to power the amp.

Works great!

I have been using a Bluetooth set up that has worked very well. A CD player with an audio output jack for a headphone. I connected a bluetooth transmitter (Miccus Home RT BBRTX-01 ) which has a range of about 150 feet, to the audio output of the CD Player with the cable that came with the unit. I then purchased two Bluetooth wireless speakers,( Soundlogic XT/ASBS-6/5774, that have lithium rechargeable batteries. When you couple the transmitter with one of the speakers, you are able to move the speaker up to 150 feet from the transmitter. Thus I am able to have the speaker in one of the gourd ports on the martin house. The speaker charge can last up to three hours playing the dawnsong..I alternate between the two speakers. Gives me a morning and evening playing.
