I had 12 Super Gourds with prong type owl guards this year. I upgraded to 16 gourd rack for next year adding 6 Troyer gourds. Any advise on whether to place Troyer Gourds on top level or bottom? I am concerned about hawks and owls. Or would it make any difference?

And one more important thing, last year I shared that I had esophageal cancer with pretty radical surgery that followed. I received lots of thoughts and prayers from members here. Well, I had a CT scan a couple of weeks ago and my cancer doctor used the word "cured". That almost never happens with esophageal cancer. So thank you. And if you have acid reflux make sure you see your gastroenterologist. They caught my cancer in time.

First of all, congrats on the great news about your health, always nice to hear someone beating the C word.. As far as your rack , I'm not familiar with a 16 deluxe. Mine are a 12 and 18 in 3 tiers. I like to alternate my gourds to give the martins a different look flying in. Are your troyers vertical or horizontal ones? Either one should be fine for owls with the longer neck. Good luck!!

Congrats on your medical front, that indeed is great news

About the hawks and owls, the Troyer horizontal gourds may help somewhat for owls. The completely very best method is to enclose your housing of any type into a wire cage. The wire cage has been proven by many to be the very best method to help control owls, and somewhat help with hawks. The wire cage will put your worries to bed. The owl guards are just not completely reliable, but they may help somewhat.

LOL - I am banker and came up with 12 + 6 = 16. Time to retire. Of course I meant 18. Thanks for the good wishes and advice.
