Via Texbirds facebook page, we've received a report of a martin roost in Pharr, TX, at corner of Cage and Business 83. The martins are roosting in several oak trees, some on bank property and some down next to sidewalk. Valley Texans might like to go visit this roost.

We drove around for weeks trying to find this roost. It wasn't at last year's site, or any of the sites from previous years. This roost moves around a lot - it pretty much moves every year. We finally found it about two weeks ago but just got around to submitting a roost report last night

I like this location over previous year's locations. It's pretty quiet in the evenings - very little traffic. The only problems I see are feral cats. They use the site as a hunting ground and flush the birds a lot

My mom lives in Alamo, Tx. I was down there in Jan/Feb and saw parrots roosting at 10th and Dove in McAllen. I'm driving down tomorrow to help her out with a few things so I'll check out this roost!

Gary,

You and your mom will love it! Viewing is best between 8:15ish to about 9 pm.

The parrot roost is awesome too! They've been using the same stretch of road as a roost site for as long as I can remember. Sadly, they were hit hard by a hail storm last year, but their numbers are coming back.
