Have been trying at my home site for 15 years. Have read the advise from from landlords on the forum faithfully and tried all the tricks.
The excitement was always there with each and every visit over the years.
I even monitor a couple of successful sites in the local Forrest preserves of Lake County, Illinois.
This year I had an ASY male show up and attract a mate. As of last nest check they had 4 eggs. Was too excited for words! :grin:
I know they still have to hatch and fledge and then return again next year to become truly committed.
PS I also have an SY male spending the day and nite trying his hardest to attract a mate.

If you never give up goods thing may come!

Congratulations, Larry! What a wonderful thing, to have PMs after waiting and trying and hoping all this time! Best wishes for a successful season!

I'm a newbie landlord too. My pair has 4 eggs due to hatch 6/24, and a lone SYM who is constantly inviting friends over. There's still a bit more time for him, sweet boy. I can't get anything done when I am at home for watching them!!

Martin Colony History: Start 2009 with one pair. Upgraded from S&K houses to two Trendsetter 12's with gourds beneath in 2013. I have experienced job, pet, and parental losses since '13. The Purple Martins lift my spirits and remind me how life continues forward by flying their little selves from Brazil back to my yard. As one forum person once told me, chin up DebA, look at the martins. Danger all around but yet they soar in the sky without a care in the world.

That's awesome!

Happy for you Larry! Hang in there. It has taken me four years, building wood housing, sparrow control, and playing the Dawn Song to get martins nesting here on the Great Plains.

Larry, I am so happy for you. I completely understand your elation. I tried for so many years that towards the end I just threw up the houses and decided whatever happened ... happened and finally I have a colony.

Good luck to you. I sure hope they fledge and come back again for you next year. Your SY male should definitely come back next year. I know some of mine did.

The eggs from my founding pair have hatched. They have 4 beautiful babies and have been very busy feeding. Another step closer to becoming a successful landlord.

Congrats Larry!! I've got one pari too and an uncommitted male at my new site.

I've had as many as 9 - getting that first pair is the key.

I'm about I'm still about 12 days away from fledging. Keep us posted!
