Lowered a house with a Spar-o-door on it to check on things and a sparrow had built a nest inside the chamber with the sparrow door in it.

It even had 3 eggs in it.

Martin Colony History: Colony started - 2007 with one pair
As of 2018 - 84 cavities offered, max # of pairs hosted - 82.

Martin Colony History: 22 year landlord, 14 at current residence..offering 9 racks and a homemade T-8 for 166 total cavities. 160 Pair in 2018 Racks consist of a Deluxe 12, AAA 16, Starburst 16, 2 K-18 Series, Super 24, 2 Gemini, Multi-purpose/two trio’s/4gourds and a T-8..Great hobby to be involved in..

Shot a pair off the multi-purpose pole today with one shot from my 20ga :) pretty sweet watching them both fall to the ground..kinda ruined their thoughts of inhabiting one of my trios.. :)

Sounds like you might need some oil on the pivot and hinge loops also make sure no spiders gummed things up with their cacoons, make sure the metal strap isn't bent in against the trip door.

Martin Colony History: First martins in 2008. Currently have housing for 36 pairs. Usually get about 28.

I had a pair that I couldn't seem to get rid of. If I so much as opened the door to go outside they would fly off. So I waited until they laid eggs then placed a trap in that cavity. To my surprise I caught them both at one time. I guess the first one in didn't trip it but the second one did. It made my day. lol

game over.. I win... well at least with those two sparrows.

I think I've offed over 200 sparrows this spring. I think I will develop some bigger guns this offseason.

Another funny story.. so I have another tripped spar-o-door...
I get the sparrow out and handle my business.. then reset the trap.... while raising the house.. another sparrow flew out of the trap. ugh.. never caught two in a spar-o-door before.
