I have an S&S Controller mounted
Right next to a barn. I lowered it to
Inspect the pivot mechanism and discovered
A large quantity of guano inside the body
of the trap around the fulcrum block. I hadn't
Lowered the house since last summer and
And had simply left the trap door open over
The winter. The guano looked old- but
For the life of me I can't figure out how anything
Larger than a bee could have squeezed in there.
Bats?? It appears that whatever got in there
Was coming and going freely. I expected to find
The desiccated body of some starling that
Had wedged itself inside. Nothing but
Guano, some of which looked like it contained grass
Any thoughts?

- Martin Colony History: First breeding pair in 2011. Site moved up hill 350 feet at beginning of nesting season
2019 to accommodate road construction.
Colony seems to have weathered the upheaval

2016 - Dagnabbit - Still a lonely wannabe landlord.
2015 - Still no martins
2014 - No luck yet... Not seeing many martins in the area.
2013 - First year trying. I've done everything to attract PM's except giving them free airfare to get here. Maybe I'll do that too !!!
