What's the best trap for an Alamo house with crescent openings?

Hi Dorn.
I don't have any personal experience with this one, but my understanding is the PMCA T-14 metal insert trap, works with the Lonestar housing.

What I'm not sure of though, if that means it will work with both Lonestar round AND crescent hole housing

I am using the pmca universal sparrow trap in Lonestar Goliad housing at public site, with crescent entrances. I put a hole reducer on front of trap, push it all the way to back, and use it only in rooms where hosp are already building. Good results so far, and it should fit in the Alamo fine too.

The text in the PMCA Shop says: Works on wooden houses with round, oval, and crescent shaped entrances (will not work in crescent/excluder entrances on metal houses). Please Confirm. I'd much rather spend 25 than 81 ANY day. I have the Alamo. This is the same trap you're using...right?

http://shop.purplemartin.org/Universal_ ... tails.aspx is the one I am using. I add a hole reducer and push the trap clear to the back, and rebuild the sparrow nest tunnel in front of the trap.

I think that warning about not working in crescents in metal houses was focused on houses with smaller, 6 inch rooms. I will see if we can modify that info online, since it's so confusing!

I use this one, too, and it works nicely behind crescents, but I have been pushing it to the back as well - after all, a house sparrow nest fills the whole room, with tunnel leading to the nesting area at the back.

With this trap, I add the reducer to the inside of the main door - I think that looks more natural than adding to outside of door, and I always use masking tape, since it does not leave a lot of sticky gunk behind like duct tape does. John Miller of MO suggested adding reducers to the trap rather than outer door, and that seems to be working very well so far.
