My wife, son, and daughter bought me one for my birthday. As the season goes on I plan on attaching it to my set up to shoot really close action video.

Martin Colony History: Well established 90 cavity colony. Mostly plastic gourds with some custom cedar houses atop pilings out over the river. We live stream the activity on our website https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCXKqSW ... Ph2tywu4eg

We are on the Maurice River. The Maurice is brackish and tidal. It meets the Delaware bay about three miles down at East Point, NJ. The area is remote and consists of dense marshland and swamp. Dragonflies abound.

Swallows arrive in mid August and finish nesting mid July. There is a large annual roost in mid August upriver a few miles at Mauricetown.

Nice birthday gift. They must really appreciate you and your passion. Was the wheel chair put off until next year?

Is this camera weatherproof?
Good luck Purple Martin Landlords.

Yep this is the camera that snowboarders and surfers use to attach to boards and helmets. It will shoot in 1080P and has a wifi remote. My son works for Fox8 in New Orleans and one of his fellow photogs uses it for a back up camera.

Just got to figure out how I am going to attach to the rack. I am going to wait until Martins have laid their eggs. Will have to leave on rack overnight and take down the next day during nest check.

If you have a droid, or a apple, there is a app you can get and if you get the wyfi option for the camera, you can operate the camera from the phone, and use the phone as a monitor.

Picture quality is excellent. Battery life sucks, about 2.5 hours in stand-by less when recording. Sound recording is not high quality unless you make more holes in the case. That may cause problems in water-proofing.

Thanks for the replies. Small but far from simple camera.

Don,
You obviously have the waterproof back with the camera. You can buy a back called a skeleton... has openings to let good sound in and still keep the camera in the protective case so you can use the attachments... just move the back of the case to a 45 degree angle and snap it off, then snap the skeleton back on to the case.

Love gopro camera's. Was going to try and do the same thing this year. Good luck and post some HD video when you get it done.
