All my martins are taking flipped crickets!!!!!!!They learn fast especially when they are hungry!! Looks like they will survive this next cold spell! I could get right under them and toss crickets up with my hands! What a wonderful experience!

That's great. Sorry I gave you some bad advice on feeding. My martins were waiting for me to feed them today when I got home from work. I would of thought they could find bugs today.I am glad you got yours to feed. Now next year they will remember how to feed too.I fed mine 4 eggs tonight and now they have learned to eat off my deck railing. Good job on your training.

- Martin Colony History: Start 2009 with one pair. Upgraded from S&K houses to two Trendsetter 12's with gourds beneath in 2013. I have experienced job, pet, and parental losses since '13. The Purple Martins lift my spirits and remind me how life continues forward by flying their little selves from Brazil back to my yard. As one forum person once told me, chin up DebA, look at the martins. Danger all around but yet they soar in the sky without a care in the world.
It is the most fun experience isn't it? I am so happy that you and your birds got to have that together! Congrats.
