I just noticed that the scout reports for Ohio are extremely low this year. There are 13 posts so far for this year and last year at the same time there was 99. That is a huge difference, even for bad weather!

I think it's been cold in the southern states too, but I think now since its warmed up the migration is gonna go crazy. I increased by at least 5 birds yesterday and the scout report yesterday for Mo. was high. I am usually full by April 1. So I am short 35 birds and they just might show up today

i agree the cold threw some timing off. initially kansas was a couple weeks ahead of average then the cold came and some areas were a week or two behind normal arrivals. I think the cork has popped so to speak.

prior to Wed KS has 42 first reports.... Wed and thursday Kansas had 35 first reports. So a huge rush came in.

i noticed the same thing about the ohio scout reports; i had a scout last year on march 14;;have yet too see my first martin this year;;looking for them any day;this will only be my 3rd year so they may be late and with 7 pair last year i don't know what my chances are of some being back;glad they didn't get here in cold weather and hope they have survived;;jr2

Well you guys are more patient than me.....I put up my decoys so I had a "martin" to look at....patience isn't one of my finer qualities!

I'm thinking Saturday-Monday for first arrival in Central Ohio right before or right after the cold front moves through.

I finished all my pre-work today - all cavities are still shut, but pre-nests have been made in each compartment and all I need to do is flip nest trays to open them up!
