Just about ready to hoist my new T-14. We are using a 2" square galvanized pole, and plan on using a 3 foot ground sleeve to slide it into.
My question is, how much cement would be recommended to assure the stability of the pole. Also, would you use a tube of some sort to confine the cement, or just place it directly into the bottom of the hole.
As always the advice I receive on the Forum is greatly appreciated. I know my Western Pa. Martin Landlord friends could easily answer this question for me, but I like to throw a bone out there to my Forum friends once in a while also. LOL.

i agree;;it depends on what type of soil you have ;;i just installed a tri-tel pole and i used 1 80lb. bag but i didn't use the ground sleeve that can with it as it looked like it was too short so i dug my hole about 3 ft. deep bell shaped as i have sandy soil here along the ohio river; i figured if i need too remove it it can easily be sawed off with saw-saw;;;jr2

It's better to use a little more than find out later you needed more.
That's especially important in areas where the soil softens up during extended wet windy weather.

I have wide base at the bottom, use casing 6" PVC up 2 foot then wide base at the top. Usually this only take 1 or two bags. I have even dug up my bases and moved them without breaking off the concrete. Just made sure I packed the dirt around the base good.
For my T-14 (which very heavy) base I made double 2 by 6" base legs extending out 3' total. covered it in concrete. used 12" cement casing all the way to the top which sandwiches the Pole (2x6x20 laminated). This took several bags of concrete but with the T-14 base coming up 3 foot and planted 3 1/2 foot deep I can swing down my T-14 pole for maintenance or replacement without digging the base out. Been in the ground for 12 years and no problems so far.
