It appears the male slipped into the new Coates house at dark and spent the night last night on my birthday. How about that 2 weeks early compared to last year. Gotta finish remodeling old house.

Martin Colony History: Start 2009 with one pair. Upgraded from S&K houses to two Trendsetter 12's with gourds beneath in 2013. I have experienced job, pet, and parental losses since '13. The Purple Martins lift my spirits and remind me how life continues forward by flying their little selves from Brazil back to my yard. As one forum person once told me, chin up DebA, look at the martins. Danger all around but yet they soar in the sky without a care in the world.

That is great! What a birthday present. Cannot buy that one in a store.

The first thing I did when I saw your post was mapquest between my house and Talequah. (In my it's all about me world.) I figured that sounded like a NE OK name.

Congratulations! Happy season ahead for you I hope.

I lived in OK. for a couple years,(Fort Sill) really liked it there, my kind of country except for thoes spring storms. Wishing you a good season. Ed.

I had two this morning. Warmer weather in forecast so maybe they will stay this time. If not, I'm still banking on March 12th. I'll have the new T-14 up in a few days, so I'll be ready for them.

I'm hoping to have my remodel with the Ultimate tunnels Clinger by end of week, I think we are okay. They were just a little too early this spring.

March 15-16 has been the normal arrival date in the past 5 years but my son saw one doing a flyby this evening so we grabbed the gourds and went and hung them before dark. Gotta round up some pine needles for nest material tomorrow.
4th season Landlord - new Super Gourd system this year!

March 25 and they have finally arived!

Martin Colony History: Had my site up to 22 gourds of which most (+/-3) stayed occupied.
Downsized to 17 gourds due to back surgeries. Had 14 families in 2017 but did not do nest checks due to health. Feeling better in 2018 and hoping for a good year.

Two good reasons to "do the dance" :) Congrats and belated birthday wishes!!
