Troyer S and S trap

Has anyone tried the troyer repeating S & S trap for starlings? I would appreciate any feedback and info. Thanks.

I built on similiar to the troyer and it works great. Caught 45 over the last year. Just be sure to only have it opened when you can monitor the trap. you will catch the ocassional native bird.

I built one last spring, it worked so well that I'm building another one right now.
Really works good if you strategically hang some grass and feathets out of the cracks to make it look like a trash bird used it for nesting last year. Glue some feathets near the entrance to help attract hosp inside it.
There were lots of days last spring i got 2 or 3 a day.

Don't hesitate to buy it already built or to buy the plans to build!

It's a nice trap, but chose your location carefully as it's a bit awkward to move around. Find a spot that's less than ideal for martins but still attractive to starlings and sparrows. Check the adjustment on a regular basis, sometimes spiders get in there and stick the mechanism with cacoons. On mine I drilled a small hole in the bottom to check the elevator box with a wire.

I have had the Troyer S & S Repeating trap for many many years it is a Great trap to have, I have never had any problems with the trap , I only take it down from time to time to lubricate the working parts and put it back up again. I Love this trap
If you order or build one please place it close to trees or a building and you will never catch a Martin in it, if you read the post below you will see pic's i posted as well as measurements , I hope this helps you.
