Martin Colony History: I moved to South Florida, from Delaware, in August of 2015.

I care for a 6 condo Sunset House as well as two Deluxe Gourd Racks, with 24 Chirpynest/Excluder gourds, along a canal in Pompano Beach, Florida.

At Quiet Waters Park, nearby in Deerfield Beach, I care for a Deluxe Gourd Rack with 12 TVG's. I also care for a Deluxe Gourd rack with 12 Excluder gourds with Modified Excluder entrances. I am substituting 6 Chirpynest boxes for 6 of the Conley II entranced gourds in 2026.

At another local park, Tradewinds Park in Coconut Creek, I care for a Trendsetter 12, 5 gourds rack with 60 Excluder gourds with Modified Excluder Entrances and 1 Deluxe Gourd Rack with 12 Troyer Vertical Gourds with Starling Stoppers over the Conley II's to keep out smaller starlings.

I see a purple dot has been added to the FL map north of Miami - maybe Fort Lauderdale. I do not see any name and location on the chart though. Wondering who got martins in my area.

Mine arrived a year ago tomorrow. Will be interesting to see if they arrive on THE SAME DAY this year!

Carl I think yours are overdue. Last year you reported an arrival on the 29th. We were in Pompano Beach again for four weeks, we headed back to Iowa last Saturday. I was hoping with all the early arrivals in Florida I might get to see your birds before I left. I drove around your condo grounds a couple times and noticed you have two houses now on the canal. Last year I only remembered seeing one house by the canal in front of the bench. Guess I'll have to wait until April now to see any martins when mine arrive.

HI Tony!

Yes, last year the birds arrived on the 29th of January or at least one did. :-)))

I now have three houses on the condo grounds here in Cypress Bend. Yes, you are right. I added a second house there along the canal as all of my units were filled last season and all successfully fledged young.

Hope you had a good visit to FL.

Carl
