Hello everyone, it's been quite a while since I posted, but I do come by almost every day to see what everybody's doing. I've been a landlord for over 30 years and really look forward to this time of year. I want to ask if anybody has ever used like a 4" pvc pipe as a predator guard at the base of a pole. Can snakes cling to a slick pvc pipe? It just occurred to me this might work and maybe somebody here has already tried it or even posted it and I just missed it. Thanks for your time. Steve

hi Steve,

Some have used that size and report no problems, others have had snakes and raccoons get by larger PVC (6 inch size) - so it's not a for-sure guarantee of safety. You could put a net on top for snakes, but that would not stop a raccoon. Others can tell you about their experiences.

Thanks Louise! It won't be long now before my colony returns. They have already been sighted in Sealy and Katy, both not far south of me. Yoohoo! Come on purple birdies!
